Should bride & groom send thank you letters after the wedding?
Recently went to my stepsons wedding ( almost 5 weeks ago)
Friends of ours gave $300 as a wedding gift.
They haven’t had a thankyou, but they haven’t complained either.
I was wondering if it is compulsory to send thank you letters to the guests afterwards for the gifts, and if so in what time frame.
They went away for a week for their honeymoon and had 150 guests.
Personally, I think you should ALWAYS say thank you for a gift. And for wedding gifts, I feel you should always have a thank you letter, especially for something as generous as $300!! They may have planned to do it after the honeymoon, but got bogged down with other things.
Etiquette says they actually have 1 year to send the thank you letters out. I know thats a long time, but that is the time frame given. I think this is ridiculous though, I would get it done within about 2 months. For all you know, they may be halfway through writing them, and want to send all out together, so they have not sent the first half yet. If there are a lot of thank you’s to send, it takes a long time to write and can get very boring!!
Wait it out a bit longer, and if still nothing, I would suggest a quiet word in his ear, because it is very rude to not say thank you for a gift.
