What is the best puppy food?
I got a German Shepherd puppy a week ago. She is 16 weeks old, and has supposedly been eating Purina Puppy Chow. Due to advice from friends with GSDs that German Shepherds have sensitive stomachs, I decided to keep her on Purina Puppy Chow Large Breed. But, She is kinda a picky eater and is somewhat thin, so I am considering buying a different brand of food.
SO…GSD OWNERS….HAVE YOU FOUND ANY BRANDS OF PUPPY FOOD THAT YOU BELIEVE WERE BEST FOR YOUR DOG? OR THAT YOUR DOG ACTUALLY LIKED?
My other dogs have eaten Nutro, Natural Choice, Iams, Canidae, Eagle Pack and are currently on Pedigree because it is reasonably priced and not as bad as purina.
I would prefer her to eat a puppy food with Glucosamine in it.\
ALSO…Does anyone feed that Royal Canin stuff? Is it a joke?
There is no best dog food as each dog is individual. What works well for one may not work well for another. Learn to read the ingredients in dog food. You want a food that has at least two quality meat proteins listed in the first 5-6 ingredients. You want to stay away from corn,soy and wheat all together. Also stay away from preservatives such as BHT,BHA and ethoxyquin as well as added colors and byproducts.
