Dog Walking: An Honest Home Based Business
1) Do You Have a Dog Friendly Place to Walk Your Dogs?
It’s important for you to know all the local laws about having your dogs on a leash and where they can be taken off the leash. If there is a dog park in the area, do you know the rules there and are you comfortable following them? If there isn’t a dog park nearby, where can you walk the dogs as an alternative?
2) Are you reliable?
The clients of your dog walking business will be allowing you to enter their homes unsupervised, and then taking your dog from the house. They need to know that they can trust that you will do what you say you will be doing. They depend on you to be on time to have your dog out and home within a certain time period.
3) Can you provide quality customer service?
You will be communicating with the dogs’ owners as well as the dogs. Remember, it’s the owners who pay you. You must be ready to provide great customer service to maintain the trust you have earned and to keep your client happy over time. A happy client will continue to use your services and will refer you to other dog owners as well. This is what builds a successful dog walking business.
4) Does the welfare of the dog come first?
Remember, the dogs come first. Most dogs like walking in groups, but some don’t. You need to know the names of all of the dogs. You need to know which ones get along with which others. Bring supplies with you such as leashes, Frisbees, water, and balls. Don’t forget the poop scoop bags!
5) Are you ready to walk no matter the weather?
Most dogs are just fine walking in the rain. You will need to make sure that you have the supplies (such as an old beach towel) to properly dry the dog off after the walk so that he or she doesn’t leave a wet and dirty trail everywhere he or she goes at home. If it’s unbelievably hot or incredibly cold, the dogs will still need to go outside, if only to do their business. If it’s too hot or cold, you will likely have to keep the walk very short or you’ll risk heat stroke or frost bite for the dogs, not to mention yourself.

Aerosmith $4.74 While not their strongest recording, Aerosmith’s self-titled debut gave a taste of the musical path that the band, and much of the rest of hard rock, was to follow for the rest of the 1970s and well into the 1980s. Although the awkward social commentary of “Movin’ Out” and the swinging cover of Rufus Thomas’s “Walking the Dog” have largely been forgotten, two standards emerged from Aerosmith: “Dre… |

Waiting for Columbus (Bonus CD) (Dlx) $11.25 Few rock concert documents can match this 1978 live album for sheer musicianship, or for its full-blooded representation of one of the best live bands ever. Little Feat’s turbulent ’70s pilgrimage had been studded with commercial detours when its second incarnation as a swampy, blues-rock sextet clicked musically, and these English and American dates, beautifully recorded by George Massenburg, cap… |
