After being successfully wormed HOW on earth does my puppy have them again 3 months later?
Of course I’m going to get her treated…but how does this happen so I can prevent it?
I called the vet…she said it’s most likely fleas as it’s tapeworm….yeeeargh!
A couple reasons – not only are worms in the nvironment, but also, some of them actually lay eggs in your puppy’s intestines (eeeuw)…in a cyst.
Dogs should always be wormed three weeks apart – three days of Panacur or Safe Guard for Dogs, three weeks, then do it again. That will get the second generation that has since hatched.
You’ll also want to make sure to pick up the poop in the yard, and lime it well. But she’ll find them anyway – none of the wild animals have been wormed, and all bets are off at the park.
And yes, tapes are in a differnet class by themsleves, and need a different wormer. And you’ll want Frontline for the fleas …and next come the ticks! It’s a jungle out there!
