I just got a Poodle, and need to know the best clippers and blades to buy.?
I’m thinking the Oster A5, but again I know nothing about this stuff. It looks like it’s the newest but when you buy blades do they come in a pack? Are the seperate? Which numbers do I need? I know I need one that does very short for his face and feet, but to do the “Pet cut” for the Poodle I have no idea what size blade that takes. Any help would be wonderful!
I’m not familiar w/the “Turbo”, I’ve always used the Golden A5. I recommend having a groomer do the first two or three cuts, especially if it’s a puppy. Ask if you can stay with the dog…be watchful and ask questions. My shop (pet cuts..not show) typically used: tail #10, belly (privates) #10, face #10, feet #30 and the body #7 (a close cut…if you want longer use a #4 or a ‘comb attachment’…but throughly brush & comb coat first or it’ll snag and cut uneven). Oh, and be sure to purchase “kool lube” (to lube/cool blades off), and you’ll want a decent pair of shears for the top knot, tail pom and various stray hairs.
