Is the coloration markings of a Doberman’s eyes ( mascara ) , for extra camouflage or random genetics ?
I have a 3 yr old wonderfull Doberman female named Prue ..while looking at her this afternoon it dawned on me looking at her face . Is the markings above her eyes due to natrual camoflage to blend in and make her look like she’s awake while she’s sleeping to ward off other dogs ?..or just random genetics cause of the Rott in her that was used in helping create this breed ? Thanx 
It is just the genetic distrubution of the tan marking gene. The gene appears in may breeds not just Dobrmans and Rotties. All of the breeds that carry those genes for tan pointing have basically the same distrubution of the tan points including the markings over they eyes.
